Position: Machine  Tool Metrologist

Pay is 70k-100k

 

As a Machine Tool Metrologist at a leading machine tool calibration organization, one must have a desire and willingness to learn combined with service experience and a general understanding of laser measurement system applications. The Machine Tool Metrologist is responsible for supporting MD CALIBRATIONS’ overall vision, offering premium service to customers, and contributing to its development to operate above standard. The Machine Tool Metrologist is enthusiastic and effective at testing and calibration operations, including the analysis equipment and technology. This position reports to MD CALIBATION’s President.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Parametric testing and analysis.
  • Linear, rotary and trunion axis testing.
  • Additional testing such as axial, contour surface and spindle measurement.
  • Be familiar and comfortable with in mixed technology environment including Microsoft Office, ProComm Plus, QuikGen, QuikComps, Read-rate, Reversal Rate Calculations, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and V Double E ”Volumetric Error Estimator”.
  • Customer service support through on-site work calls, generating quotes, booking contracts, tracking sales activity, customer order acknowledgement, and reporting results.
  • Works closely with Office Manager providing general administrative and technical support and special projects support.

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Research and development in supporting technology.
  • Participation in management reviews, internal audits, and contract reviews.
  • Upholding all company policies and methods.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Has an involvement or influence on the testing and/or calibration activities of the laboratory. This is defined in order to identify potential conflicts of interest.

Essential Qualifications :

  • Parametric testing and analysis experience recommended
  • Linear, rotary and trunion axis testing experience recommended
  • Additional testing such as axial, contour surface and spindle measurement experience preferred
  • Experience with mixed technologies preferred
  • Strong background in machine tool calibration
  • Basic knowledge and experience with laser measurement systems and applications
  • Administrative and/or technical support experience required
  • Approximately 5 years of customer service experience required
  • ISO 17025 Testing and Calibration Systems experience preferred
  • Very strong math skills
  • Laser Calibration experience
  • Basic knowledge and experience in CNC Control
  • Above standard presentation skills and appearance
  • Strong desire and willingness to learn
  • Ability to think outside of the box
  • U.S. Citizenship Required'

  • Between 60k-100k depending on experience
  • Plus commission on equipment sales
