Job Summary:
Primary functions to include scanning and indexing medical records; running weekly reports; will cross train to checking in/checking out patients and answering telephone calls to assist with coverage as needed to meet patient and department scheduling needs; working within an electronic medical record.

Working Environment:
Busy, often times stressful, ambulatory facility providing direct patient care, considerable amount of direct patient/customer contact.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 1-2 years experience with personal computers and frontline customer service
  • Keyboarding 35 wpm

Education/Experience Preferred:

  • Graduate/equivalent of a 2-year program in a medical science field or equivalent
  • ICD-9 and CPT coding experience a plus
  • 2 years medical office experience
  • Knowledge of insurance referrals
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Medical terminology

  • Self-directed
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities successfully
  • Pleasant and friendly manner
  • Neat appearance

Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, reaching, bending, walking and stretching, ability to keyboard for extended periods of time.
