Sr. Electrical Design Engineer
Job Description
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Schedule: 4/10’s, Monday–Thursday
Pay Rate: $125,000 – $137,000 annually
Clearance: Must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
- Design ruggedized electronics for ordnance applications, including analog and digital circuitry.
- Perform circuit tolerance analyses using hand calculations and SPICE-based tools.
- Develop, refine, and ensure compliance with system requirements.
- Create and execute test plans; generate associated reports (Brassboard, Design Verification, Qualification, Firing Properties).
- Lead and oversee test activities across all phases of the product development cycle.
- Conduct and document root-cause failure investigations using structured tools (8D, Fishbone, Cause & Effect).
- Prepare and lead technical design reviews with both internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Act as the primary technical interface for internal teams, external customers, and review boards.
- Support proposal efforts with material and labor estimates.
- Generate Engineering Orders (EOs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Balance multiple projects simultaneously, providing both technical expertise and leadership.
- BSEE/CompE or related discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience; or MSEE/CompE with 4+ years; in lieu of a degree, 10+ years of equivalent experience.
- Strong background in analog design (differential amplifiers, op amps, filters, data converters, LDOs).
- Experience in digital design (logic gates, flip-flops, timers, filters).
- 3+ years of experience in power supply/power conditioning design and power conversion (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC).
- Familiarity with serial communication buses (UART, SPI, I2C).
- Knowledge of sensors (temperature, MEMs accelerometers, gyros, pressure sensors, etc.).
- Experience applying EMI suppression, ESD protection, and short-circuit protection practices.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with oscilloscopes, meters, function generators, etc.
- Proficiency with simulation/modeling tools (LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Experience with schematic capture and layout tools (Altium, PADS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale technical projects from concept through completion.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills (test plans, reports, drawings, etc.).
- Root cause analysis experience.
- Experience designing Electronic Safety and Arming Devices (ESADs) and Ignition Safety Devices IAW MIL-STD-1316 and MIL-STD-1901A.
- Experience presenting designs to Safety Review Boards (AFSRB, FISTRP, NNMSB).
- Experience interfacing with energetic materials testing.
- Design experience for extreme environments (shock, vibration, temperature, humidity).
- Strong teamwork and cross-discipline communication skills.
- 70% office/cubicle environment.
- 30% production floor and lab environment (flexible based on project needs).
