Administrative and customer service duties to assist the Personnel Director and Benefits Coordinator; other related work, as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs clerical support duties in connection with the daily operation of the office.
Maintains personnel records for all Town employees; updates and maintains manuals, reports and files.
Types letters, memoranda and other documents related to personnel functions; reviews, sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence; orders office supplies. Performs clerical support activities for Director.
Provides information and assistance to staff and the public regarding personnel policies and procedures, including compensation information and job descriptions; refers messages; assists with resolution of problems and complaints.
Signs onto the payroll temporary and seasonal employees. Schedules Recording Secretaries for Town Boards and Committees; processes payments for same. Schedules pre-employment and random drug testing and coordinates appointments with appropriate supervisors.
Verifies and processes departmental payroll. Processes town-wide payroll changes and submits as appropriate to Town Accountant’s Office. Calculates and processes annual longevity payroll. Maintain town-wide time and attendance records.
Prepares requests for information for unemployment claims, salary and employment verifications.
Prepares the weekly schedule of bills. Watches over departmental expenditures. Posts notices of vacant positions internally and on Town’s web site. Maintains the department’s web page.
Assists the Benefits Coordinator by photocopying, screening phone calls, verifying insurance invoices, making deposits. Assists in coordinating annual Health and Benefits Fair, Employee Appreciation Day and other employee events. Assists Manager’s Office as required.
Performs similar or related work as required, or as situation dictates.
Works under the general supervision of the Personnel Director, following established rules, regulations and policies; duties are performed independently according to prescribed time schedules.
