Patient Account Representative

The Patient Account Representative is responsible for billing and collection of accounts from health insurance plans, contracted agencies and patients.
Reviews, monitors and resolves outstanding claims and accounts receivable for assigned payers/funding sources.
Reviews and takes action to resolve payer claim denials within 1-3 business days of receipt.
Communicate payment delay and denial issues to the Patient Account Supervisor in a timely and effective manner.
Achieves and maintains thorough knowledge of revenue cycle procedures and systems.
Eigibility verification, authorization management, claim requirements, interpretation of remittance/explanation of benefits for denials and partial payments
Claim resubmission, correction and appeals.
Assists patients and their representatives with billing inquiries and seeks payment of outstanding patient balances.
A minimum of one year health care revenue cycle experience, or three years proven business finance experience preferred.
Strong billing and collection experience with knowledge of health insurance plans, policies and coverage preferably in the behavioral health sector preferred.
Must be proficient with using and learning financial and business systems.
Requires excellent organizational, customer service skills with effective verbal and written communication skills.
At least one year of customer service and call center experience preferable.
Ability to work independently and as a team member for successful outcomes.
