PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
The Safety Coordinator will report directly to the Maintenance, Facilities & EH&S Manager and is responsible to lead, motivate and foster a safety-conscious culture and ensure a safe, healthy, and accident free work environment. This individual will work with managers and employees to ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements. The coordinator is responsible for understanding best practices, recognizing potential hazards, developing corrective actions and communicating the company’s expectations for mitigating hazards. The Safety Coordinator must be committed to work “hands on” to help the entire team understand the company's commitment to safety and the need to follow the safety programs and should be committed to spending time in the manufacturing plants on a daily basis. 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The following is a brief description of some of the duties and responsibilities but is not limited to: 
A. Champion the Safety Management System, coordinating safety programs to ensure a safe environment consistent with regulatory and company requirements. Helps to lead, motivate, and foster a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce incidents and injuries. Maintains a manual of safety policies and simplified guidelines for use by operational leadership to ensure uniform and constant compliance. 
B. Conduct or assist in new hire general orientation training. Review work processes and methods to identify and provide training necessary for safe and efficient work. Ensure company compliance with all OSHA training requirements. Maintains training schedules, logs and documentation. 
C. Conduct regular safety and health walk-through inspections of all workplace facilities to maintain EHS presence and provide support. Inspect facilities, processes and the work environment to detect existing or potential accident or health hazards, initiate corrective actions to eliminate hazards and promote a safe work environment. Perform audits periodically to insure the plant is operating in a safe and appropriate manner. 
D. Coordinate monthly Safety Committee meetings with scheduling, agenda, educational opportunities and minutes. Ensure Safety Committee membership provides adequate representation. Lead Safety Committee activities driving continuous improvement through the corrective action process. 
E. Lead detail investigation of safety incidents and injuries, documenting findings. Perform root cause analysis to ascertain cause and identify causal factors. Develop and track 

corrective actions to completion. Ensure the timely reporting of events as required by company, insurance carriers and regulatory agencies. 
F. Complete required federal, state, and local government reports. Maintain OSHA 300 log of occupational injuries and illnesses. Post the OSHA 300A Summary of Work-Related Injury at each work location as required. 
G. Work with Worker’s Compensation (WC) loss control representatives to mitigate risk for injury and reduce workers’ compensation claims. Respond to WC loss control recommendations. Complete WC injury reports and documentation in a timely manner. Work with WC carrier and medical providers to ensure that injured workers are getting the care that they need in a timely manner. Manage modified duty program. 
H. Ensure OSHA required written programs are in place, operating effectively and meet all compliance requirements. 
I. Assist EHS Manger with environmental compliance programs and other duties as assigned. 
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE: 
The following is a brief description of some of the processes in the technical expertise duties but is not limited to: 
A. Safety Knowledge of manufacturing work environments that includes inspection methods, procedures and practices, modern training and teaching methods and health and safety guidelines 


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: 
A. Language Skills – Read, write and speak English. 
B. Mathematical Skills – Basic Math. 
C. Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems and present solutions, self-starter/initiator. 
D. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - OSHA 30 
E. Physical Demands – Physical Activities: Possess the appropriate body coordination to do the following for extended periods of time: climb ladders, bending, twisting, kneeling, crawling, pulling/pushing, lifting, standing, walking, and squatting. Ability to reach and use arms, hands and fingers. Ability to hear and smell. 
F. Weight Limitations – up to 75 lbs. 
G. Vision Requirements – Close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception; and ability to adjust focus. 
H. Work Environment – Moderate Noise Conditions. Ability to work alone in remote areas. Work in areas that may be noisy and dirty. Work in ambient temperatures ranging from very cold to very hot. Some exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Interaction with electric, gas and vibrating equipment. Ability to perform both indoor and outdoor tasks requiring continuous physical activity, sometimes of a strenuous nature. 
I. Personal, Protective Equipment - Ability to wear safety glasses, foot protection, hearing protection, gloves, respirator if required and other job related personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. 
J. Work Schedule –Dayshift (Monday – Friday) with occasional assigned overtime including weekends.
