Industrial Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
Summary: Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices. Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs
- Record repairs and maintenance performed
- Any other associated tasks as seen necessary by supervisory personnel
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
- Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
- Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery
- Ability to trouble shoot PLC’s and the related components
- Responsible for participating in all activities set out by the company in support of the Food Safety Modernization Act.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electric eyes, proximity switches and other various electronic components.
- Everyone has responsibility to support and follow our Food Safety and Food Defense programs.
- Any other associated task as seen necessary by supervisor personnel
- Must be able to work a schedule that has rotating days off but maintains the same starting time of the shift.
Job Requirements
Physical Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older and work/stand up to a maximum of 12 hours per day
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds with assistance
Work Environment:
- Work in very hot temperatures (90 degrees F) or very cold (below 32 degrees F) seasonally
- Ability to work in a noisy environment with levels that are distracting or uncomfortable; and the possibility of being exposed to flour, gluten, eggs and wheat via inhalant or food handling
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays
- Must be able to work on a variety of floor surfaces including tile and concrete
- Must be able to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls and be able to stand, kneel, crouch, walk, stoop, bend, twist or crawl
- Must be able to work in cramped work spaces and have no difficulty getting into areas that create uncomfortable positions
- Requires exposure to high places as well as hazardous equipment and conditions
- Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
