Job Description

SUMMARY:      This position is responsible for manufacturing a finished raw compound to a Precix recipe; this includes activities such as compounding, mixing, electronic management systems and material testing.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up mixing equipment (gauges and controls for temperature, pressure, time, etc.)
  • Set up/maintain laboratory instrumentation required for testing and process control (in accordance with ASTM, customer or Precix procedures and specifications.)
  • Receive raw materials and perform appropriate incoming inspection where applicable.
  • Obtain, measure/weigh, mix raw material per Precix specification.
  • Document and maintain necessary records. Prepare and submit required reports.
  • Adjust and submit work instructions, procedures, documents, forms, etc., as necessary.
  • Control/maintain electronic system for inventory transactional accuracy, including KANBAN systems.
  • Coordinate movement of raw materials; route materials to proper departments.
  • Assist area manager in analyzing and leading the resolution of work problems and enforcing safety rules and regulations. Recommend and lead changes to improve personnel effectiveness and efficiency, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Assist in the resolution of technical issues acting as department technician.
  • Assist chemists in evaluating sample batches and document the results.
  • Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to the appropriate manager.
  • Maintain work area in a safe, neat and orderly fashion.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested.

Job Requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provide training and work direction for new tilt mix technicians.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent in work related experience; particularly in compounding/mixing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Must possess the ability to complete math formulas that include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, simple use of formulas, charts, tables and specifications.
  • Must have the ability to attain a forklift license.
  • Must be capable of learning mill extraction techniques and utilize training should the situation arise.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work environment consists of Manufacturing setting that may include exposure to noise, heat, rubber smells, and chemicals; some time will be required on the receiving/shipping dock.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts 2/3 or all the time,
  • Exposure to fumes and airborne particles 2/3 or all of the time.
  • Exposure to loud noise 2/3 or all the time.
