Job Description

HW Staffing Solutions is seeking an Accounts Receivable clerk for a small company in Plainview, NY

Possible temporary to permanent position


Monday – Friday, 9:00 am-5:00pm


$22-$25 hourly

This role involves handling incoming payments, monitoring customer accounts, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances. The Accounts Receivable Clerk works closely with customers to resolve billing discrepancies and maintain positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process incoming payments from customers via various methods such as checks, credit card payments, and electronic transfers.
  2. Post and reconcile payments to appropriate customer accounts in the accounting system.
  3. Monitor customer accounts for overdue payments and follow up with customers to collect outstanding balances.
  4. Prepare and send out invoices, statements, and reminders to customers regarding overdue payments.
  5. Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or disputes in a timely manner.
  6. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions.
  7. Collaborate with other departments such as sales and customer service to address customer inquiries and concerns.
  8. Provide support during audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries related to accounts receivable.


  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in accounting or finance is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in accounts receivable, billing, or a related field.
  3. Familiarity with accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and colleagues.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  7. Problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues independently.
  8. Integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
  9. Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to accounts receivable processes is a plus.
  10. Willingness to adapt to changes and learn new technologies or procedures as needed.
