Batch Mixer
Job Description
- Ingredient Management:
- Accurately measure and weigh raw ingredients (e.g., flours, sugars, spices, liquids) according to precise batch formulas and recipes.
- Retrieve ingredients from storage areas, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO - First-In, First-Out) and inventory accuracy.
- Inspect ingredients for quality, freshness, and suitability before use; report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
- Mixing Operations:
- Operate and monitor industrial mixing equipment (e.g., blenders, industrial mixers, kneaders) safely and efficiently.
- Load ingredients into mixing equipment in the specified order and at the correct times.
- Adjust mixing speeds and times as necessary to achieve desired product consistency.
- Monitor batch progress, temperature, and consistency throughout the mixing process.
- Quality Control & Documentation:
- Conduct in-process quality checks, including sensory evaluations, pH measurements, and viscosity tests, as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed production logs, batch records, and ingredient usage reports.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, quality deviations, or safety concerns promptly to the supervisor.
- Sanitation & Safety:
- Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP principles, and all food safety regulations.
- Clean and sanitize mixing equipment, tools, and work areas thoroughly before, during, and after shifts, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) protocols and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with production supervisors, quality assurance personnel, and other team members.
- Assist with other production duties as needed to support overall plant operations.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational training or certifications in food processing or manufacturing are a plus.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a food manufacturing or production environment, preferably in a mixing, blending, or batching role.
- Skills:
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate measurement and calculation.
- Ability to read and interpret recipes, formulas, and production schedules.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Basic understanding of food safety principles (HACCP, GMPs) preferred.
- Ability to operate mechanical equipment and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
