CNC Machinist
Job Description
Pay Rate: $35.00–$38.00/hour (DOE)
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM (9/80 Schedule)
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Work Environment: Onsite – Precision Machine & Metal Shop
- Set up, adjust, and operate CNC and manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and vertical machining centers.
- Produce precision machined parts by following engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and specifications.
- Program, edit, and operate CNC equipment as required.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Select proper tooling, fixtures, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds for each operation.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Construct, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, gauges, and prototype components.
- Perform routine machine maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Maintain compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support prototype and production projects.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 6 years of CNC machining experience, OR
- Associate's Degree (or equivalent post-secondary education) with at least 2 years of related machining experience.
- Strong experience setting up and operating CNC machines.
- Manual and CNC machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating lathes, mills, and other precision machining equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Thorough knowledge of machining practices, tooling, metalworking equipment, and fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of machining mathematics and precision measurement.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers.
- Comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with Mastercam and AutoCAD.
- Experience with Haas and Hurco CNC controls.
- Mastercam programming experience.
- Experience programming and operating vertical machining centers.
- Experience producing one-off prototype parts as well as production runs.
- Strong understanding of tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and shop calculations.
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work independently.
