Job Description

Purpose:  The Continuous Improvement Coordinator is responsible for driving improvement activities utilizing Lean business principles.  This individual will lead, facilitate, manage, and support the improvements utilizing various methods and tools.  Goals of this role are to improve efficiencies, reduce cost/waste, and increase customer satisfaction throughout the organization. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and deliver improvement activity across the business through employing process improvement methodologies and the application of innovative thinking
  • Lead and facilitate LEAN/process improvement-based workshops to drive ideas and solutions
  • Working with key business stakeholders, build a continuous improvement culture to support ongoing positive change
  • Drive the development and implementation of a ‘best-in-class’ continuous improvement strategy
  • Assist with project identification, selection, and prioritization
  • Define scope/requirements using interviews, documentation, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, business analysis, and workflow analysis
  • Work with other team members and departments to devise new support material based on the revised processes, to include training, reporting and systems enhancements
  • Actively monitor project risks to foresee/identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions to address in advance
  • Ensure the business impact and project objectives/dependencies are identified, reported on, and always managed
  • Complete kaizen newspaper and other post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery is achieved
  • Education and training of process owners and kaizen participants including the use of simulations that help others learn
  • Perform a variety of other tasks

Job Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Quality is preferred or a combination of High school diploma/general education degree (GED) with 2-3 years of experience as a Lean Leader with a manufacturing-based company
  • Certificate or formal training as a Green Belt is required.  Achievement of Black Belt is highly desirable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in leading and facilitating kaizen events across multiple business functions
  • Advanced Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of colleagues, co-workers, partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm’s length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision
