Job Description
Position Summary:
Oversees and coordinates the accounting accuracy of all materials and supplies for plant operations, daily production reporting, purchasing activity, and product pricing. Monitors plant productivity and profitability and advises plant management of variances requiring attention.
Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly inventory transaction reports for the plant.
- Oversees the information database relating to inventory transactions.
- Maintains current formula files in compliance with QA and R&D requirements.
- Updates weekly pricing on all raw and packaging materials.
- Assists in monthly physical inventories, reconciles inventory data, and determines variances.
- Oversees daily production reports for accuracy and yield factors.
- Monitors plant labor costs and trends compared to budget; distributes all data reports.
- Completes database adjustments and changes as required for labor, costs, and formulas.
- Oversees plant purchasing and generates weekly purchase order reports to determine departmental costs.
- Oversees all co-packing activities.
- Researches and analyzes plant information to provide advice to the plant manager or company controller.
- Generates and audits weekly payroll.
- Installs and maintains all computer equipment within the facility; coordinates with corporate MIS to install, upgrade and maintain all software and server back-ups.
- Oversees and coordinates the annual physical inventory.
- Coordinates the preparation of the monthly KRA report; presents operating results and analysis to plant management.
- Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
Working Conditions/Environment:
Works primarily in an office environment, with 25% or less time in a manufacturing environment, where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Requires some lifting of moderately heavy items such as file boxes. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may periodically be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment. The noise level in the office is moderate and loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards
Job Requirements
Qualification Requirements:
- 5-8 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food-related industry.
- BS/BA degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounting/inventory systems, manufacturing processes and purchasing.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Directly supervises 1-2 employees in the accounting/inventory control area. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and appraising employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints/grievances and resolving problems.
