This is a senior-level software engineering position responsible for the design and implementation of the value delivery pipeline. The DevOps Engineer IV will play a leading role in executing a data-driven, continuous improvement vision for software development, utilizing lean and agile methodologies. Working closely with the software development team, this role ensures the creation and support of a highly reliable, automated, and repeatable build system, including automated quality gates within the deployment pipeline.

The role demands a high degree of expertise in both software development and Linux system administration, with experience in both on-premises and cloud-based environments, including security concerns. This individual will also be responsible for providing technical strategy, direction, and planning for tool adoption, implementation, and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of an agile development team, building and maintaining CI/CD infrastructure for the continuous deployment of embedded software for medical devices.
  • Identify and assess infrastructure needs and collaborate with the IT department to plan for future scalability.
  • Install, configure, and maintain tools and reusable components, and assist with all stages of test data.
  • Design, integrate, and test software, ensuring high reliability and quality in the deployment pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain associated documentation and performance metrics, reporting to executive management.
  • Act in a lead capacity to mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance, promoting best practices in software development.
  • Forge strong cross-departmental relationships, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain high standards of code quality, advocating for continuous improvement and automation.
  • Collaborate with overseas development teams and provide technical support as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in DevOps transformations.
  • Proficient in networking, security, cloud systems, and databases.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages, system and server administration, web technologies, and large-scale system deployments.
  • Extensive experience with Linux tools (gcc, gdb, make, shell scripting, etc.), with the ability to quickly adapt to new platforms.
  • Expertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining Source Control, Continuous Integration, and Configuration Management tools.
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices, including object-oriented design, SOLID principles, event-driven architecture, multimedia processing, and testability.
  • Experience in C/C++ development in embedded environments, including cross-compilation and custom toolchain management.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience building relationships with development teams.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to overcome daily obstacles and drive projects to completion.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic about developing high-quality medical products.
  • Excellent software design skills and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, well-documented code.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in regulated industries such as Medical, Aviation, or Financial sectors.
  • Familiarity with medical device quality system regulations and standards, such as U.S. FDA Quality System Regulation 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, and ISO 9001.
  • Additional experience with embedded software development in C/C++, including cross-compilation and management of FOSS components.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2-5 years of relevant experience in software development.
