Space Planning Manager
Job Description
Pay Rate: $55 – $60 per hour
We are seeking an experienced Facilities & Space Planning Manager to lead facility decommissioning efforts and oversee space planning initiatives in Columbia, MD. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on project management, including coordinating contractors, managing vendors, and leading a team to ensure efficient use of physical resources and successful execution of facility projects.
- Production floor, office spaces, and interior/exterior areas of the facility.
- Requires walking, climbing stairs, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Onsite leadership role with direct coordination across multiple departments and vendors.
- Develop and implement space planning and facilities management strategies to support organizational needs.
- Manage and oversee facility decommissioning projects, including scheduling, contractor oversight, and vendor management.
- Coordinate with department heads to assess and accommodate space and facility requirements.
- Lead a team in executing facilities and space planning initiatives.
- Manage preventative maintenance programs (CMMS) and ensure vendor performance.
- Oversee relocations, renovations, and workspace reconfigurations.
- Conduct regular space audits and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA regulations, health, and safety standards.
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts for space and facility-related expenditures.
- Collaborate with IT, security, and operations teams to maintain cohesive facility operations.
- 6–10 years of facilities engineering experience, with strong project management and coordination skills.
- Minimum 3 years in a facilities leadership or management role.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs (CMMS) and vendor management.
- Demonstrated experience leading facility projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work onsite daily.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management, or related field.
- Facility decommissioning experience.
- Experience with CAD and/or BIM software.
- Professional certification in Facilities Management or related discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for leading teams and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
