Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineering Technician provides vital support to supplier quality engineering functions, conducting quality control inspections on non-conforming materials, components, and parts during the receiving stage of the production process. This role ensures products comply with established quality and reliability standards and aids in MRB (Material Review Board) processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Supplier Quality improvement by providing consistent feedback to Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE) on component quality levels.
  • Manage non-conformance material (NCM) by reporting and preparing non-conforming parts for return to suppliers.
  • Inspect parts received against customer specifications to verify product compliance.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues related to non-conforming products.
  • Attend MRB and NCM activities to aid in resolving supplier quality challenges.
  • Assist in Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) processes for NCM.
  • Coordinate product purges due to supplier defects, assist with on-site sorting, and work with suppliers directly.
  • Utilize basic blueprint and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) skills.
  • Perform basic measurements using inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) if experienced (preferred).
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Preferred Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in thermal technology, lasers, machining/molding, and/or electronics is advantageous.
  • Optics expertise, particularly in optical lens inspection, is a significant plus.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR an associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in high-volume optical or electro-mechanical manufacturing environments, focusing on government, military, and law enforcement products.
  • Intermediate computer skills, decision-making, problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes, inspection equipment, and blueprint reading.
  • Customer-focused mindset and ability to operate general office equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Part-time work in a cubicle, shop floor, or Receiving Inspection lab.
  • Split between computer-based tasks and hands-on machine inspection activities.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, with strong initiative.
  • Must be able to work on-site and seek growth opportunities.

Educational/Certification Preferences:

  • High School Diploma required, Associate Degree preferred.
