Engineering Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician C (2nd Shift) to support equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and optical systems. This role involves performing hands-on technical tasks including calibration, alignment, testing, diagnostics, and equipment maintenance in support of engineering and production operations.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment and systems.
- Construct, calibrate, adjust, test, and diagnose electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical devices.
- Work from schematics, repair manuals, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
- Conduct calibration and alignment checks; perform modifications and replacements as needed.
- Operate related test equipment and document results in prescribed formats.
- Assist in design, build, and check-out of test equipment as required.
- Maintain clean and orderly work environment while adhering to company EH&S, ESD, FOD, Quality, OSHA, MSDS, and housekeeping standards.
- Provide input to supervisors and engineering staff when defects or issues are identified.
- Support team objectives and operational targets with moderate impact on overall department results.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 6+ years of related maintenance/technical experience
- OR an Associate’s Degree with 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Proficiency working with small, fragile components and following detailed instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Hands-on experience using basic hand tools, fixturing, PPE, and handling chemicals safely.
- Prior experience in mechanical assembly and/or microscope work preferred.
- Must-Haves (Hard Skills): Troubleshooting/repair, preventative maintenance, ability to work with fragile parts, use of test equipment, reading engineering drawings, adherence to quality/safety standards.
- Must-Haves (Soft Skills): Strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, teamwork, clear communication skills, reliability.
- Nice-to-Haves: Hands-on mechanical assembly, prior microscope experience, comfort presenting in group/team settings.
- 2nd Shift schedule.
- Combination of office, lab, and production floor work.
- Requires use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals/hazardous materials.
