Job Summary:Working under limited supervision and utilizing available resources, the Machining Estimator is responsible for the technical review of inquires throughout creating cost estimates for a product and developing the fabrication processes in accordance to customer specifications. Provides technical guidance for the shop floor and works with engineering and manufacturing to ensure tools such as CNC programs, fixtures, etc. are available for new products that are estimated. Also reviews costs after completing orders and works on cost improvement programs.Specific Responsibilities:1. Create costs (material master, bill of material and routing in SAP) and provide lead-time for customer inquiries.2. Communicate the need of CNC/CMM Programs as needed for new products or process improvements.3. Support the shop floor (supervisor/group leader/operator) with fixturing design and special tools required to manufacture a product.4. Review and analyze costs (planned verses actual) and make necessary adjustments after job orders are completed.5. Work on process improvements and cost reduction on existing products.6. Ensure ISO compliance for all processes related to manufacture a product.7. Confer with suppliers, tool manufacturers, subcontractor, etc. to gather necessary data required for estimates.8. Interface with shop floor, sales and customer to determine product specifications and maximize reliability and acceptance.9. Follow the manufacturing process of new products to ensure they are on schedule and delivery dates are met.10. Implement revision changes of a product and ensure that all necessary documentation and tools such as fixtures, CNC-Programs, drawings, etc. are updated.11. Support production management in new investment projects.12. Provide ad-hoc reporting as requested.13. Perform incremental tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications:1. Minimum of High School diploma/GED required. A two-year degree or certification in fabrication or machining technology preferred.2. Five (5) years experience in estimating and programming functions in a manufacturing environment.3. Strong background in fabrication of high performance materials preferred.4. In-depth knowledge of the SAP module PP and MM preferred; other software experience is essential.5. Basic understanding of MRP functions in a manufacturing environment.6. In-depth knowledge of blue print reading.7. Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).8. Strong communication and organizational skills.
