Fabrication Technician
Job Description
The Fabrication Technician plays a key role in assembling high-quality composite and armor components. In this role, you will work hands-on with a range of materials, including fibrous materials, epoxy, plastics, ceramics, and alloys, using both hand and power tools. You'll follow work orders, templates, and detailed instructions to ensure each assembly meets quality standards while maintaining a steady pace. This role is ideal for someone with an eye for detail, strong trade skills, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabrication and Assembly: Assemble a variety of composite materials and armor panel assemblies, from simple to complex, using tools for cutting, trimming, and grinding.
- Material Handling: Mix and apply agents like release agents, sealants, solvents, adhesives, and resins daily.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including passing a respirator physical test and following handling guidelines for chemicals and tools.
- Quality Focus: Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in repetitive tasks, working within designated workspaces and adhering to strict quality standards.
- Blueprint and Work Order Comprehension: Read, interpret, and execute tasks based on blueprints, work orders, and work instructions.
- Use of Measuring Tools: Operate calipers, scales, and other measuring instruments to ensure precision.
- Physical Demands: Stand for ten-hour shifts and manage tasks that involve moving, pulling, lifting, and transferring items up to 40 pounds unaided.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform related assembly tasks for aircraft seat cushion components, including bonding, cutting, and grinding various foam, plastics, and laminates.
- Adapt to working on various projects as needed, showing flexibility and teamwork.
- Complete additional assigned tasks with care and efficiency.
Job Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a production assembly environment or relevant technical training. Experience with composite or armor component assembly is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with hand and power tools, ability to read blueprints, and skill in using measuring instruments.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work ten-hour shifts standing, lift items up to 40 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
Preferred Skills:
- Hands-on trade skills and experience in assembly or manufacturing.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to quality and safety.
