Floorperson – Utility & Coating
Department: Utility
Reports To: Coating Supervisor/Dept. Manager
Pay Schedule: Per Union Schedule A
SUMMARY: Under general supervision performs a variety of duties related to oven operations and maintaining production flow within department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Pull pins from trays.
B. Load the tunnel for the coating area.
C. Load and unload oven.
D. Make boxes for operators.
E. Move boxes from the operators’ area.
F. Move product to and from QC.
G. Remove scrap and trash to its proper locations.
H. Assist Set Up Mechanics with maintenance tasks as needed.
I. Act as back-up Utility Operator/Inspector – Class B, Washline Operator or Coating Operator as needed.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability and willingness to work during a 24-hour period, weekends, and holidays if necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Hazards include working with and around machinery and tools in addition to a seasonally hot and cold environment.
EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE: High school or trade school diploma or equivalent. Experience in plastics manufacturing a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of the department and it’s processes. Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Must be able to do basic math equations using a calculator. Must have a positive attitude, a satisfactory work history, maintain a good attendance record, and work well with co-workers.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a fork truck license or certificate. Must wear personal protective equipment where posted or required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.
