Job Description

Position Summary
The School Cafeteria Worker supports daily food service operations by preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals for students and staff. This role helps ensure meals are served safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health and nutrition standards while maintaining a clean and welcoming cafeteria environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and portion food items according to menu and nutrition guidelines
  • Serve meals to students and staff in a friendly and respectful manner
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving areas, and dining space
  • Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards
  • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries
  • Monitor food temperatures and report concerns to supervisor
  • Support students’ needs while maintaining a safe and orderly cafeteria
  • Follow school policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines
Qualifications & Skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of food handling and sanitation (training provided)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to [25–40] pounds
  • Dependable, punctual, and organized
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with children
  • Previous food service or cafeteria experience a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout shift
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
  • Indoor school cafeteria and kitchen setting
  • Noise level typical of a school environment
Uniform will be clean pressed black slacks/ dark polo shirt / no long nails hanging jewelry/ safety shoes (slip resistant)
