Food production Operator
Job Description
- Equipment Operation & Monitoring:
- Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery and equipment (e.g., fillers, depositors, ovens, conveyors, packaging machines) according to established procedures and production schedules.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to ensure product quality and efficient operation.
- Monitor production lines for potential issues, bottlenecks, or malfunctions, and report them promptly.
- Product Handling & Quality:
- Handle raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
- Conduct visual inspections and basic quality checks of products throughout the production process to ensure they meet specifications.
- Remove defective products from the line and report quality deviations.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Complete production logs, downtime reports, and other required documentation accurately and legibly.
- Record production output, waste, and quality control data as per company procedures.
- Sanitation & Housekeeping:
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of equipment, work areas, and production lines following strict sanitation SOPs and GHP (Good Hygienic Practices).
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, adhering to 5S principles.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), confined space entry, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report any potential safety hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality assurance, maintenance, and other team members to ensure smooth production flow.
- Assist in training new operators as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the food industry. Experience operating production machinery is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including production schedules and safety guidelines.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating and making minor adjustments to machinery.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
- Basic math skills for reading gauges and recording data.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced, demanding production environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 60 pounds with assistance.
- Manual dexterity required for operating controls and handling products.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including cold or hot environments, and in areas that may be wet or noisy.
