Position: 2nd Shift CNC Swiss Machinist

Location: New Britain, CT

Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Pay Rate: $32/hr

Job description

Position Overview - Responsible for setting up CNC Swiss as directed by the CNC Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions

1. Must be able to set up, operate CNC Swiss equipment located in the CNC Swiss Department. This includes Citizen and Tsugami Swiss equipment.
2. Must be able to work independently using prints, work instructions and be able to use and understand all measuring and gauging tools.
3. Must be able to change and/or set all required tooling.
4. Must have a good understanding of fixturing and work holding as it pertains to the machine group being used.
5. Perform 1st piece and in-process inspections.
6. Responsible for quality of all products leaving the CNC Swiss Department on machines assigned.
7. Will train and monitor operators in the department.
8. Follow all company safety rules and report any unsafe acts to immediate supervisor.
9. Must have full understanding of all company processes, procedures and rules as stated in the Peter Paul Electronic Company Employee Handbook.
10. Perform all 5S as required within the CNC Swiss Department.
11. Perform line walks for Swiss area as directed by immediate supervisor.
12. Perform any other duties as directed by immediate supervisor.

Additional Job Functions

1. Support the strategic goals and vision of the organization by promoting reduction of lead times and contributing to the overall experience of our customers.
2. Participate in company problem resolution teams.
3. Participate in company Kaizen events.
4. Prepare and present Gemba Board as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience

1. Minimum of 5 years’ setup experience on CNC machines.
2. Should be analytical and have trouble shooting skills.
3. Must be familiar with feeds and speeds.
4. Should be familiar with aluminum, brass, ledloy, 300 series stainless steels (including 316), 430F stainless steel and 430FR stainless steel.
5. Computer literacy.
6. Ability to follow instructions.
7. Ability to make sound decisions and accept responsibility.
8. Ability to work well with others.
9. Understanding of the Lean Enterprise Tool.
