Job Description
Pay Rate: $17-$19/hour
- Create monthly lab orders for physical testing
- Scribe and create metal specimens for testing
- Track both physical and analytical tests to ensure completion within required timeframes
- Perform analytical and physical testing including but not limited to:
- Corrosion testing
- Paint adhesion and plating adhesion testing
- Powder testing
- Abrasion resistance testing
- Coating weight and cleaner weight loss testing
- Intragranular attack and end-grain pitting testing
- Metal removal testing
- Hydrogen embrittlement tensile testing
- Impact testing
- Hydrogen pick-up analysis
- Atomic Absorption elemental analysis
- Potentiometric and acid-base titrations
- Gravimetric analysis
- UV-Vis Spectrophotometer operation and testing
- pH, conductivity, and resistivity testing
- Create detailed test reports outlining procedures and results
- Perform clerical and documentation duties including filing lab orders, test certifications, chemical certificates of analysis, purchase orders, and related records
- Review testing records and logs for accuracy and ensure results remain within specification and control limits
- Monitor tank temperature recording programs to verify compliance with customer requirements
- Tag out process tanks when concentrations, temperatures, or other parameters fall outside acceptable ranges
- Communicate testing and process issues with shop personnel and production staff
- Properly handle and clean laboratory glassware to prevent cross-contamination between testing mediums
- Operate and perform minor maintenance on corrosion resistance/salt spray chambers, including changing filters and unclogging drain or exhaust lines
- Follow all company safety procedures and properly utilize PPE, eyewash stations, first aid kits, and other safety equipment
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous laboratory, manufacturing, quality, or chemical testing experience preferred
- Basic understanding of laboratory testing procedures and equipment
- Ability to accurately document and report testing results
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working with chemicals, laboratory equipment, and industrial processes
- Ability to communicate effectively with laboratory and production teams
- Basic computer and data entry skills preferred
- Laboratory and manufacturing environment
- Frequent handling of chemicals, metal specimens, and laboratory equipment
- Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Standing, walking, and occasional lifting may be required throughout the shift
