Job Title: 3rd Shift Extrusion Machine Operator
 Department: Production / Manufacturing
 Reports To: Shift Supervisor / Production Manager
 
Position Summary:
The Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining extrusion equipment to produce high-quality products that meet specifications. This position requires technical skill, attention to detail, and experience with precision measuring tools. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, adaptable, dependable, and maintains a positive attitude while working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate extrusion machines in accordance with job specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and product quality throughout production runs.
  • Use tape measures, calipers, and snap gauges to verify product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Adjust machine settings such as temperature, pressure, and speed to ensure consistent output.
  • Load raw materials and maintain proper feed during operations.
  • Perform quality checks and record production data accurately.
  • Assist with changeovers, cleanouts, and routine maintenance.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or quality concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Adapt quickly to changes in production needs, tasks, or priorities.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and support team members as needed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in extrusion or machine operation preferred.
  • Proficient in using tape measures, calipers, and snap gauges.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
  • Physically able to lift up to 25-50 lbs. hourly, stand, and move throughout the shift.
  • Reliable, flexible, adaptable, and capable of working independently.
  • Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and machinery.
  • Standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • PPE required at all times.
  • May include overtime, rotating shifts, and weekend work as production demands.
