Job Description

The Loading Team Lead is responsible for overseeing all loading activities including ensuring accurate and complete orders, maintaining warehouse organization, resolving load report issues, and operating trucks and forklifts as needed. This role involves interpreting job orders for team members, training and assisting employees, and reporting problems to the Warehouse Supervisor. Additionally, the Loading Team Lead plays an essential role in promoting safety policies and procedures among team members.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 4:30 pm (some shifts may run over)
  • Mandatory Overtime: Saturdays and Sundays as needed per business demands

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading and Verification: Lead and perform all loading activities, ensuring orders are complete and products are undamaged.
  • Cart Management: Prepare carts for packaging and return empty carts to designated locations.
  • Inventory Sorting: Sort and organize the complete product inventory.
  • Vehicle Operation: Drive trucks and operate forklifts to transport materials as needed.
  • Vendor and Customer Interaction: Engage with vendors, customers, and coworkers professionally and positively.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other departments to facilitate smooth workflow and effective communication.
  • Team Training: Assist in training and developing new team members.
  • Warehouse Organization: Maintain a clean, organized shipping area in alignment with warehouse layout and 6S Standards.
  • Safety and Reporting: Educate and monitor team members on safety protocols, and promptly report any issues to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Job Requirements

  • Experience: 3-6 years of direct experience in a warehouse environment, including knowledge of material handling, shipping procedures, and truck loading; 1-2 years of professional leadership experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with computers and warehouse logistics systems.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to quickly assess situations and develop action plans to address production changes or issues.
  • Work Conditions: Ability to handle moderate exposure to warehouse conditions, including heat and cold.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with safe work habits, including proper lifting techniques and the safe use of equipment.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate instructions clearly and concisely to team members and coordinate effectively with management, coworkers, and the public.
  • Equipment Operation: Experience operating a pallet jack and forklift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50-75 pounds, with the capacity to assess when help is needed.
  • Physical Activity: Must be able to stand and/or walk for up to 10 hours, with regular bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Environment: Must be comfortable working in a loud, fast-paced warehouse setting with fluctuating temperatures.
  • Vision and Dexterity: Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Safety Exposure: Regular exposure to fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.
