Machine Maintenance
Job Description
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on various machines and equipment according to established schedules and procedures. This may include lubricating, cleaning, inspecting, and adjusting components.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on machinery.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Perform tests and adjustments to ensure machines operate efficiently and according to specifications after repairs or maintenance.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to understand machine operation and maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used.
- Identify and report potential mechanical or electrical problems to the supervisor to prevent future breakdowns.
- Assist in the installation and setup of new machinery and equipment.
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to address machine-related issues and optimize equipment performance.
- May train production personnel on basic machine maintenance tasks.
- Stay updated on new maintenance techniques, equipment, and safety standards through continuous learning and training.
- Perform tear-down and build-back-up procedures on textile machinery.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more, with available assistance for heavier items.
- Respond to service calls when needed, which may require working outside normal business hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays, according to business situations.
- Operate a hand truck with a weight of 440 lbs. or more.
- Travel via automobile as required.
- Attend job-related training classes in the U.S. as requested or agreed upon by management.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Proven experience (typically 2+ years) as a machine maintenance technician, industrial mechanic, or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Must possess good manual and mechanical skills.
- Solid understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail 1 and a commitment to quality work.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Technical/mechanical background in card clothing preferred.
- Work experience in textile card rooms is a plus.
- Must physically be able to stand for extended periods of time with some bending and stooping required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and heavier objects with the assistance of lifting devices or other personnel.
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb.
- Visual acuity to inspect machinery and read technical documents.
- Ability to work in potentially noisy environments and wear appropriate hearing protection.
