Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independent Work: Execute all facets of the Machine Millwright responsibilities autonomously.
  • Equipment Analysis: Analyze, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair complex industrial equipment.
  • Machinery Modification: Assist in modifying existing machinery and equipment to facilitate new production techniques or improve equipment reliability.
  • Maintenance Practices: Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with team members to achieve team goals.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with co-workers and Team Leaders, including continuous improvement activities.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Independently troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild all types of mechanical assemblies, including manual or automatic systems with electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic components.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance as directed by equipment schedule.
  • Basic Fabrication: Perform basic fabrication, piping, and machining tasks.
  • Problem Isolation: Troubleshoot and isolate problems in plant production equipment using prints, schematics, and effective communication with operators, engineers, Team Leaders, or vendors.
  • Training: Attend maintenance-specific training sessions and classes as appropriate.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • 100% successful completion of TPC educational requirements and a minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining and repairing industrial equipment.
  • OR an approved Technical Associates Degree/College Level certificate in Mechanical Discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience in maintaining and repairing industrial equipment.
  • OR a minimum of 7 years of industrial experience in a skilled trade without formal post-secondary education.

Other Requirements:

  • Possession of own trade tools.
  • Successful completion of Machine Millwright skills assessment and multi-plant interview.
  • Demonstrated ability to install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators using hand and power tools.
  • Proficiency in operating hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and tractors.
  • Ability to inspect machinery and equipment to identify irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, and pneumatic systems.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic controls.
  • Successful completion of formalized training in basic pneumatics and motors/pumps.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to hours of operation, including strict adherence to attendance expectations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Respect for organizational policies and procedures, including Safety and Quality.
  • Effective communication with peers, team leaders, and managers.
  • Passing all Health Services testing requirements for this position.
