Overview
A leading food and beverage manufacturing facility is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join its production team. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing equipment while maintaining compliance with food safety standards, including HACCP protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and fluid handling systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics and apply a basic understanding of electronic circuitry for diagnostics and repairs.
- Rebuild and maintain electrical and mechanical components.
- Perform root cause analysis on equipment issues, including PLC-controlled systems.
- Prioritize and execute work orders and emergency repairs based on operational needs.
- Document maintenance activities and assist in developing operating standards and procedures.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
- Utilize CMMS software for tracking maintenance and equipment usage.
- Comply with OSHA, GMP, and internal safety and quality policies.
Qualifications
- Tech School, High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- 5+ years of experience equipment maintenance. Food or beverage manufacturing preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and apply basic electronic circuit knowledge.
- Familiarity with PLC systems (understanding functionality and troubleshooting, not programming).
- Experience with automation systems, pneumatics, and motion controllers.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform manual labor.
- Comfortable working in environments with temperature fluctuations, steam, and allergens.
- Capable of bending, climbing, crawling, and working around moving machinery.
