Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of electrical trade functions, ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment. This role requires technical expertise in electrical systems, the ability to troubleshoot issues, and a proactive approach to ensuring that all systems operate efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow safety procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Electrical Installation and Repair: Perform a variety of electrical trade functions, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and machinery.
- Wiring Systems: Hook up electrical wiring to machines, ensuring that connections are made according to specifications and rewiring machines when necessary.
- Machine Inspections: Conduct regular checks and balances on machines to ensure the proper functioning of the wiring system and overall machine performance.
- Routine Maintenance: Replace, repair, and calibrate various machine components to maintain optimal performance on a regular basis.
- System and Equipment Testing: Inspect, test, and adjust all systems, machinery, and equipment regularly to ensure proper operation.
- Documentation: Record inspections, tests, and repairs on preventive maintenance stickers to maintain accurate logs for future reference.
- Safety and Security Calls: Respond to verbal or written instructions related to safety and security calls regarding machinery, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Work Planning: Plan and layout work from blueprints, diagrams, operation manuals, and other technical specifications to ensure work is performed correctly.
- Disassembly and Repair: Disassemble equipment using hand tools and power tools as needed, inspect damaged parts, determine the nature of the repair, and use appropriate tools to rework or refinish worn or damaged parts.
- Installation of Parts and Equipment: Install special functional and structural parts and equipment as required to maintain or improve machine performance.
- Reassembly and Testing: Reassemble equipment and conduct necessary tests to verify proper functionality.
- New Machine Setup: Set up new machines, ensuring proper wiring and integration with existing systems as required.
- Repair Recommendations: Record written recommendations for repairs needed to address any issues or improve system performance.
Other Duties:
Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the operational efficiency and safety of machinery and equipment.
Job Requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or training in electrical systems, machinery maintenance, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician, with a focus on electrical systems and machinery maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting methods.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and ability to document work effectively.
