Manufacturing Supervisor
Job Description
The Manufacturing Supervisor will support the Production Manager in overseeing production lines to ensure that safety, quality, and efficiency standards are consistently met or exceeded. This role includes managing the daily operations of the production lines, identifying and addressing training needs, monitoring key performance metrics, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork. The Manufacturing Supervisor is also responsible for educating team members on safety protocols and minimizing waste.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Change Management: Champion change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts; foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Safety Management: Prioritize safety by maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring adherence to safety procedures, and educating team members on safe practices.
- Production Oversight: Ensure that production targets are met, quality standards are maintained, and any necessary process adjustments are made to optimize efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Resource Allocation: Plan and manage day-to-day allocation of resources, including workforce, materials, and equipment, to achieve production targets safely and cost-effectively.
- Staff Management and Development: Hire, train, and develop team members to meet current and future production needs, promoting skill growth and career development.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth workflow, effective communication, and alignment on production goals.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor key performance indicators, including safety, throughput, and costs, and implement action plans to address root causes of issues.
- Core Values Modeling: Uphold and exemplify company core values in all interactions and decisions.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of five years in a high-volume manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations and experience at all employee levels.
- Lean Manufacturing: Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Financial Acumen: Familiarity with Profit and Loss Statements and the budgetary process.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment, setting clear goals for oneself and others.
- Communication Skills: Ability to coach and recognize team members' contributions and implement ideas for improvement.
- Organization and Personality: Excellent organizational skills and a positive, approachable leadership style.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Work Environment: This position requires work inside the facility, with occasional protracted or irregular hours, and proximity to moving machinery and objects.
- Noise and Dust Exposure: Exposure to intermittent noise and dust while on the factory floor.
- Equipment Use: Essential equipment includes manufacturing machinery, hand tools, computers, calculators, copiers, and potentially forklifts and automobiles.
