Material Handler
Job Description
- Material Loading/Unloading:
- Load raw materials (e.g., coils, blanks, sheets, components) onto presses.
- Unload finished or semi-finished products from presses, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Position materials accurately and securely on the press to facilitate efficient operation.
- Material Handling & Logistics:
- Transport materials between receiving, storage areas, and the press room.
- Stage materials in designated areas for upcoming production runs.
- Move completed products to designated storage, staging, or next-process areas.
- Manage and remove scrap materials from the press area, ensuring proper disposal or recycling.
- Inventory & Documentation:
- Verify incoming material against work orders and production schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved, consumed, and produced.
- Attach identifying tags or labels to materials and containers.
- Report any material discrepancies, damage, or shortages to supervision.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently, performing daily pre-use inspections.
- Assist with basic maintenance and upkeep of material handling equipment and the work area.
- Safety & Housekeeping:
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment around the presses and in material storage areas.
- Identify and report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions.
- Teamwork & Communication:
- Communicate effectively with Press Operators, Supervisors, and other team members to ensure smooth production flow.
- Assist other departments with material movement as needed.
