Material Handling/Forklift/1st Shift
Job Description
The material handler is responsible for handling, moving, cutting, and distributing material in accordance with company requirements, and maintaining the material control area in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Set-up and operate automatic and manual saws.
• Measures, inspects, cuts and packs incoming material in accordance with established procedures
• Uses pallet jack, hand truck, forklift and overhead crane to move material
• Maintaining the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow company safety standards
• Communicate with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and manage workflow
• May perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and problem solving skills
• Ability to maintain necessary workflow, possess a high degree of attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to use and read a tape measure and vernier
• Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math
• Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctually standards
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with other team members
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• High School diploma or GED preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1-2 years of Forklift experience
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
• Must be able to become OSHA Forklift certified and maintain certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Frequently required Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear
• Occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend and crouch
• Primarily working in a manufacturing shop environment, may have exposure to warehouse equipment, dust, and noise hazards.
