Job Description
- Reads information on Job Routings, identifies any special processes and obtains clarification of any unclear instructions from the Production Manager.
- Notifies the Production Manager of any discrepancies in the routings
- Inputs data into the computer as appropriate for specific tasks.
- Obtains the necessary materials needed to mold the parts and performs the procedures necessary for setting up the job.
- Verifies that all necessary information on the molds and rubber is consistent with that called out on the routing and documents necessary information.
- Reviews and follows the information on the routing to mold the part. This may include mixing liquid rubber with the use of small ovens and hot plates, spraying molds, cutting strips of rubber, hand loading rubber and or metals into the mold, etc.
- Maintains consistent operation of the press by monitoring all indicators.
- Performs a preliminary inspection of the parts as they are molded to identify any cosmetic defects or other discrepancies and notifies the Production Manager of any discrepancies.
- Follows all procedures for first article and first piece inspections
- Upon completion of the daily run or of the entire order, counts the parts molded, isolates any discrepant parts, documents the counts on the routing and enters the appropriate information into the computer.
- Maintains as clean a work area as is possible
- Follows all requirements of the quality system
- Uses appropriate safety equipment at all times.
- Informs the Production Manager of any issues or concerns based upon personal observations. These may include but are not limited to safety, quality, scrap, equipment or personnel.
- May be required to operate a fork lift.
- Serves on committees as required.
- Performs other duties as required by the Production Manager or the President
Work Conditions:
- Required to work in a noisy and dirty environment and in very hot and humid conditions during the summer months. (Noise levels within OSHA Standards).
- Dust and mists are frequently present in working area
- Must work with 210-350 degree F. presses
- Required to work with heavy molds
- Required to stand for long periods of time
- Required to operate and use a variety of equipment and materials, some of which might be considered hazardous
- Frequently required to work beyond the normally scheduled shift and/or on weekends.
- May be required to alternate shifts as needed to meet workload demands.
- Occasionally required to work under time-related, stressful conditions to ensure timely delivery of product.
