Production Toolmaker
Position Summary
The Production Toolmaker sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots deep draw transfer press tooling to ensure efficient production of high-quality products. This role builds and maintains complex tooling systems while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, modify, and repair complex tooling, transfer fingers, and gauges using blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
- Apply shop math and trigonometry to maintain precise tolerances.
- Hand-finish, harden, and prove out tooling; obtain Quality Assurance approval on first-piece samples.
- Set up machines for production, perform tooling changeovers, and ensure each station meets quality standards.
- Troubleshoot production issues, adjust tooling and machine settings, and repair worn or damaged components.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime.
- Enter SPC and production data as required.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in toolmaking, ideally with deep draw transfer press tooling.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
- Solid troubleshooting skills and basic computer proficiency
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, and industrial shop conditions.
