Test Technician
Job Description
The Test Technician position entails performing production tests, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining tooling and specialty equipment in the assigned area. It also requires knowledge of electronics, testing equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions
- Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications
- Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and make recommendations for changes in product or test method
- Maintain and use tools and equipment such as, but not limited to, power meters, oscilloscopes, microscopes, automated or computerized specialty equipment, including metric tools
- Work with engineering to determine improved test methods and tooling for the assigned production area
- Adhere to customer specifications and all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance
- High School Diploma or Secondary School required
- 0–3 years of relevant experience
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Perform electronic and optical testing (oscilloscopes, optical switches, power meters, RF equipment)
- Diagnose and analyze faults or malfunctions
- Follow design specifications (e.g., orientation of power connectors, Tx/Rx channels, reviewing paperwork)
- Identify visual signs of breakage, wear, or defects
- Interpret production information and manage multiple variables
- Experience with both English and metric measurement systems and converting between them
- Set up and use electronic testing equipment and read blueprints
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and openness to continuous improvement initiatives
