Job Description
Audits the process and production lines to monitor and verify the manufacture and labeling of a quality, cost effective product that meets company, customer and government standards and specifications. This person is a qualified individual and shall report any non conformance of finished product to the QA Manager, QA Supervisor and Production Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities:
- This is a 40 hour week position, with the opportunity of overtime.
- Shift differential is $0.75.
- Review all pertinent SOP’s and is a QI (Qualified Individual) for the position
- Collects samples of ingredients, products or packages and monitors tests according to established procedures.
- Documents neatly and precisely all results.
- Labels and maintains samples of ingredients and samples for retains and shelf life monitoring.
- Organizes collected data for management review.
- Maintains lab equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Communicates non-compliant results immediately to management.
- Monitors plant for compliance to GMPs.
- Recommends methods to improve processes to reduce waste, improve productivity, improve quality and/or consistency.
- Weigh colors, flavors and other small ingredients.
- Inspects raw materials and audits the pest control program.
- Ensures compliance to quality, food safety, 5S, OSHA and HACCP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
- Strive to be a safety solutions leader by maintaining the 200% for safety mindset. Participate engagement activities, complete required safety training and aid in identifying hazards within the facility utilizing BBS and Safety Monitor programs
- Participates in activities related to Marzetti Operational Excellence
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent; associates degree preferred.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work in a team environment
- Accurate, detail oriented and strong written and oral communication skills.
Working Conditions/Environment
Works in a laboratory and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Requires some lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment and product cases. Must be able to stand for an 8 – 10 hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive tasks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment, and handling of hazardous testing and sanitation chemicals. The noise level in the lab is moderate and loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
