The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and works closely with other functional departments in the company. The Quality Engineer is responsible for fulfilling the role as a Quality expert; this is a hands-on position. Ensure the quality of our processes, products, and parts being used at company meet all internal and external customer expectations; quickly and effectively take-action when non-conformances are found.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Develop and implement process control plans to ensure consistently high First Pass Yields of manufacturing processes.
B. Assist qualification of new manufactured quality products.
C. Support and instruct the Quality Technicians as required.
D. Investigate all quality complaints and issues; identify root cause document corrective action.
E. Participate as Material Review member to review and disposition Non-Conforming Material.
F. Manage and oversee source inspection activities, as required, including the development of inspection procedures.
G. Conduct audits of supplier quality systems and approve new suppliers along with verify ongoing supplier compliance.
H. Conduct internal audits of the quality management systems.
I. Develop and execute statistical process controls utilizing the quality tools plus statistical techniques for key manufacturing operations.
J. Develop and maintain positive relations and effectual communication lines with all functions, departments and vendors.
K. Develop and maintain and effective gage control & calibration system.
L. Support quality goals and objectives along with activities to identify, explain and resolve quality issues.
M. Performs other related duties as assigned.
The following is a brief description of processes in the technical expertise duties but is not limited to:
1. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Experience with other quality software applications beneficial. (e.g. MINITAB for statistical analysis)
2. Leadership ability. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including presenting and facilitating meetings.
3. Attention to detail.
4. Ability to work cross functionally at all levels of within the organization.
REPORTING TO: Quality Manager
X Bachelor degree in Engineering, prefer Manufacturing or Mechanical or equivalent technical degree
X Certified Quality Engineer.
X Masters Degree
X Minimum five (5) years experience in managing quality management system in a medium to large manufacturing environment.
X Experience in supporting a standards-based or regulatory-based quality system such as ISO 9001.
X Experience in implementing modern quality management theory including lean manufacturing and 6 sigma, strong data analysis capability.
X Experience in establishing a modern quality system.
X Proficient computer skills using Excel, PowerPoint and Word
X Experience in metallurgy, machining, forming, welding, assembly, calibration
X ASQ Certification
X Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Leader Certification

F. Vision Requirements – Close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
G. Work Environment – Quite conditions in the office. Moderate noise conditions in manufacturing including ambient temperatures ranging from very cold to very hot.
H. Personal, Protective Equipment - Ability to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and other job related personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
