Quality Inspector
Job Description
Location: Ashburn, VA
Pay Rate: $29 – $30 per hour
We are seeking a skilled Quality Inspector to support defense and aerospace manufacturing programs. This role is responsible for conducting in-process and incoming inspections of composite and machined parts, circuit card assemblies, and commercial parts to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and drawings. The ideal candidate will have experience in military, aerospace, or defense-related quality inspection and possess strong technical and communication skills.
- Perform detailed in-process and incoming inspections on flight vehicle composite components, machined parts, and assemblies using drawings, specifications, and established processes.
- Inspect machined and composite parts for dimensional accuracy using precision measuring instruments, templates, jigs, and fixtures.
- Conduct visual inspections for voids, porosity, delaminations, and other physical characteristics.
- Verify compliance to workmanship standards, proper installation of components, hardware, and wiring.
- Document production non-conformances in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Collaborate with quality engineers to develop inspection requirements, techniques, and quality plans.
- Review new or modified drawings and work instructions for compliance with quality standards.
- Assist in evaluating defect data, identifying trends, and recommending process improvements.
- Ensure final inspections and data packages for product shipments are complete.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate inspection records, non-conformance reports, and logs.
- Support additional duties as assigned.
- U.S. Citizenship (required).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a high-tech development or production manufacturing environment, or an Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T principles.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, templates, jigs, and fixtures.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office; ability to scan, upload, and maintain documentation).
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and meet vision requirements (close, distance, color, depth perception – corrected acceptable).
- Associate’s Degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
- Existing DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance (current 5-year update or CE).
- Prior experience inspecting aerospace or military products.
- Experience in defense/government quality assurance programs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and process improvement mindset.
- Based onsite in Ashburn, VA (5 days per week).
- Parts receiving area and manufacturing floor environment, with assigned workstation/desk.
- Proven experience in inspection of aerospace/military components.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection documentation.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Clearable for DoD security clearance.
