Job Title: Quality/Process Engineer 
Reports To: Operations Manager 
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Wallingford, CT
Salary: $95k-$110k plus bonus
 
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring products meet required quality standards while driving process improvement initiatives and advancing the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS). This role requires strong expertise in quality methodologies, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Systems Improvement:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality control plans, inspection criteria, and testing procedures
  • Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO 9001or similar standards
  • Identify gaps in processes and drive standardization of SOPs, work instructions, and documentation control
  • Ensure alignment between quality systems and manufacturing operations to improve consistency and traceability
Inspection and Testing:
  • Oversee in-process and final inspections using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Conduct audits of manufacturing processes and quality systems for compliance
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure data traceability for analysis
Process & Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead quality process improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven methodologies
  • Analyze quality metrics (SPC, scrap, rework, yield) to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Partner with engineering and operations to improve process capability, efficiency, and product consistency
Training and Support:
  • Train production teams on quality standards, systems, and best practices
  • Support development of quality procedures, manuals, and training materials
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability for quality
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare and present quality metrics, KPIs, and improvement initiatives to leadership
  • Maintain accurate and compliant quality documentation and records
  • Support customer audits, certifications, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Proven experience driving process improvements and QMS enhancements
Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of SPC, FMEA, RCA, CAPA, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience working within and improving Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Other Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field required
  • CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma certifications preferred
