Shipper
Job Description
- Read pick tickets and shipping documents, standard of work and job specifications for daily shipping schedule.
- Examine package contents and compare records, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy of outgoing shipments.
- Assemble cartons, address, seal, and weigh merchandise or material to be sent.
- Interface with truck drivers; assist with loading merchandise on flat beds using a forklift.
- Use a WAV (work assist vehicle) to obtain the material to be shipped from inventory.
- Count and record quantities and product numbers as instructed. Use computer for looking up SKUs on hand or needed.
- Recommend revision or changes to increase production, or improve safety, improve efficiency, or reduce costs.
- Assist with the development or revision of standard operating procedures and work practices, model compliance with standards.
- Willing to adjust work and / or shift schedule when needed to meet customer demand.
- Be an active participant as part of a team to improve quality, safety, and efficiency. Willing to share information and workload with other team members.
- Work in a safe manner; able to recognize unsafe work situations and report safety issues to lead or supervisor.
- Communicate clearly and in a timely manner to other team members.
- Model excellent housekeeping practices by keeping work areas and tools clean and orderly.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- One to two years related experience preferred.
- Computer skills: basic navigation on a computer terminal.
- Fork truck training & license preferred, but not necessary.
