Shipping & Receiving Specialist
Job Description
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing the preparation of products for shipment, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring efficient processing of incoming and outgoing goods. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to meet delivery schedules and operational goals. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Product Preparation: Prepare products for shipping and load trucks as required to meet scheduled deliveries. Ensure that all items are handled appropriately to prevent damage during transport.
- Prepare Shipping Documentation: Complete and maintain accurate shipping documents such as packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping labels to ensure smooth delivery and compliance with regulations.
- Optimize Shipping Schedules: Apply knowledge of service areas, product types, and customer requirements to adjust shipping schedules, maximizing load capacities and improving delivery efficiency when possible.
- Collaborate with Internal Departments: Maintain effective communication with other departments (e.g., Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse) to relay updates, changes, or issues with the daily delivery schedule.
- Report Operational Issues: Communicate delivery or operational problems that require immediate attention to the appropriate personnel, ensuring timely resolution.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Supervisor: Work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor to confirm that products are correctly picked according to shipping schedules and that non-shipped items are properly stored for future use.
- Maintain a Safe and Organized Work Environment: Ensure the shipping and receiving areas are clean, organized, and safe for employees and visitors.
- Adherence to Safety Procedures: Follow all safety guidelines and company procedures during shipping and receiving tasks.

Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in logistics or warehouse management is a plus.
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations, documentation, and best practices.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
