Sr Quality Control Technician- 3rd Shift
Job Description
Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, Quality Assurance Technician III will be responsible for performing essential tasks that ensure the production of high-quality, food-safe products. The role focuses on meeting and exceeding customer expectations by adhering to stringent quality standards and food safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality assurance tasks to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Document quality checks, inspections, and testing results in a neat, accurate, and timely manner.
- Follow established processes for monitoring production quality and food safety.
- Ensure the correct use of equipment, including metal detectors, wash water systems, allergen protocols, and temperature controls.
- Monitor sanitization and cleanliness within the production environment.
- Assist in preparing for and facilitating audits by regulatory bodies such as SQF, FDA, and USDA.
- Conduct swabbing and pathogen testing to ensure product safety.
- Maintain detailed records of quality assurance inspections and findings.
- Support the rework process as needed to meet quality standards.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Employment Requirements:
- High school diploma (GED or equivalent); some college coursework preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written) is preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Reliable transportation required.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work consistently in a cold and wet environment (34-36°F) for extended periods (85%+ of the time).
Job Requirements
Work Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 4-5 years of previous experience in quality assurance within food manufacturing or a related industry.
- Experience with the documentation and completion of QA paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
- Strong ability to follow instructions and meet established quality standards.
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining food safety standards.
- Proven experience with SQF, FDA, and USDA audits and working with USDA inspectors.
- Certification or training in food manufacturing QA processes is required.
- Experience with the following food industry QA basics is essential (or equivalent experience in similar environments):
- Metal detector checks
- Wash water (e.g., Smartwash)
- Allergen management (including changeovers)
- Equipment calibrations
- Sanitizing stations
- Temperature and weight controls
- Swabbing and pathogen testing
- Product quality and foreign materials inspections
- Rework processes
- Redzone or similar food safety systems
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated competency in most (if not all) of the food industry QA basics and be able to apply their knowledge effectively in a production environment.
