Job Description

Position Summary:
Develop accurate, thorough project estimates for various types of construction projects (i.e. Building,
Mechanical, and Utility Construction) which optimize profit objectives and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities:
• Identify and demonstrate an understanding of construction safety requirements and implement into
a cost estimate.
• Works independently and/or as an active team member to plan and create detailed, thorough project
estimates.
• Receive and review drawings and/or specifications from owner, engineer, architects or design
partners.
• Attend pre-bid meetings to obtain project requirements and objectives.
• Contact suppliers and vendors for material and subcontractor pricing.
• Identify and clarify project details with client, engineering, or architectural staff.
• Perform quantity takeoffs as required to build estimate items.
• Identify labor and equipment production for estimate items.
• Evaluate subcontractor and material pricing and perform scope comparisons.
• Perform bid reviews with Estimating Manager.
• Present final estimate at Executive Officer review.
• Participate in estimate closeout process.
• Collaborate with Operations on job turnover and buyout.
• Communicate pertinent project details (project costs, risks, assumptions, and schedule) to
Operations during turnover process.
• Negotiate subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.
• Provide technical information, change order pricing, and other forms of support as needed to
Operations throughout the project.
• Perform regular jobsite inspections in order to develop and maintain project familiarity and
knowledge.
• Participate in project close out with Operations to review estimated costs versus actual costs.
• Remain current on trends, methodologies and best practices within the construction and cost
estimating field.
• Assist in developing project schedule.

Job Requirements

Hiring Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field or the equivalent
combination of education and professional experience.
• Minimum 4-7 years' experience within the field of construction and cost estimating.
• Experience with Sage/Timberline, PlanSwift, ISqFt or similar programs.
• Ability to develop and organize cost estimates.
• Ability to identify and establish goals and objectives to achieve project deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information to reach sound conclusions.
• Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of the business implication of decisions.
• Exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
• Ability to manage competing demands.
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, executives and individuals at all levels of the
organization.
• Experience leading a bid team in the development of an estimate preferred.
• Proficiency in developing a project schedule.
• Must possess a valid unrestricted Driver’s License
