Supervisor, Quality Inspection
Job Description
Job Summary:
The Parts Inspector Supervisor oversees the inspection team to ensure that all parts meet quality standards and specifications. This role involves leading the inspection process, training staff, and collaborating with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a solid understanding of quality control processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision: Lead up to 12 Parts Inspectors to ensure work is performed to specifications.
- Experience handling and resolving conflicts.
- Excellent customer service skills; ability to interact with all levels within the organization and with clients.
- Training: conduct inspector training per the QPC training matrix and process.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all parts are inspected according to established quality control standards and protocols.
- Performance Monitoring: monitor and collect all inspector daily documentation data for their shift – i.e., attendance logs, p charts, training logs, etc. Log and submit it to Supervisor for approval.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in inspection processes and implement best practices.
- Reporting: Prepare and present inspection reports for management, highlighting trends, issues, and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production and engineering teams to address quality concerns and facilitate communication.
- Compliance: Ensure that all inspection activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Complete understanding of company handbook and policies.
- Communication Log: Review Supervisor communication log with the previous shift Supervisor. Sign for review verification.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in quality control or inspection, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Microsoft experience – Excel
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools and quality inspection software.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Problem-solving: Ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift heavy equipment/parts.
- Manual dexterity for handling small parts and tools.
Work Environment:
- Primarily works in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
- Professional dress attire – khakis/jeans and collared shift.
