Tooling Technician II

Position Summary:
The Technician, Tooling II, plays a vital role in ensuring molds are repaired and fully functional to optimize quality, mold utilization, and cavitation.
Primary Functions:
- Troubleshoot quality issues with molds, identifying root causes and performing necessary repairs.
- Conduct machine repairs to spare parts, optimizing mold use and demonstrating proficiency in machining equipment.
- Analyze existing molds, recommend improvements for customer satisfaction, cycle times, cavitation, and mold life.
- Utilize production monitoring systems to continuously improve mold preventative maintenance programs and document all activities.
- Collaborate with the Manufacturing Team to maintain full cavitation, utilization, and efficiency of molds.
- Participate in spare part analysis, maintain inventory levels, and coordinate with supervisors and vendors.
- Support project/program management by providing insights and participating in design reviews.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities on molds to maintain peak functional condition.
- Support the Quality Management System (QMS) and adhere to safety protocols.
Key Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Significant experience in close tolerance grinding, lathes, and mills.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Experience with hot runner systems and mold repair.
- Ability to read and interpret prints.
- Physical skills necessary for machining and mold handling.
- Self-motivated with a focus on meeting or exceeding customer and company expectations.
- Ability to work efficiently to meet production goals and standards.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Availability to work 10-hour shifts as applicable.
Job Requirements
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in manufacturing environments with exposure to chemicals, grease, and oils.
- Physical agility for reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and standing for moderate periods.
- Normal vision and hearing capabilities.
