JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor oversees all warehouse operations including optimizing processes and managing the team to achieve our goal of 99% on-time delivery. Located in Durham, CT. Salary is $90,000. 6am to 4:30pm, and some half days on selected Fridays.
Job Qualifications:
- College degree
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- Certificates in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), Certified Warehouse Logistics Professional (CWLP), or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) can demonstrate specialized knowledge and skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Planning:
- On time delivery.
- Develop and implements strategic plans to achieve the company’s goal of 99% on-time delivery.
- Collaborates with planning, production, and other departments as necessary to align warehouse operations with overall business objectives.
- Addresses any delay promptly and implement corrective actions.
Team Management:
- Leads, mentors, and motivates the warehouse staff, ensuring they are well-trained and cross-trained for all picking responsibilities, ensures they are efficient, and productive.
- Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Periodically audits the warehouse and checks orders pulled for shipment.
- Completes annual Performance Evaluations for all assigned employees.
- Ensures CTPAT compliance.
Inventory Management:
- Oversees inventory control, including receiving, storing, and organizing materials.
- Implements best practices to minimize errors, damages, and losses.
- Regularly conducts cycle counts and ensures accurate record-keep.
Process Optimization:
- Continuously reviews and optimizes warehouse processes including inventory location system and layout to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and improve overall operational performance.
Quality Control:
- Implements quality control procedures to ensure all outgoing products meet the company's high-quality standards.
- Works with carrier account representatives to investigate and solve shipping problems.
Safety Compliance:
- Enforce safety regulations and standards within the warehouse.
- Conducts regular safety inspections, training sessions, and drills to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Reporting:
- Completes bill of ladings and ship notifies all full trailer load shipments.
- Prepare regular reports on warehouse performance, including key metrics, on-time delivery rates, inventory levels, and any issues or challenges faced.
- Present findings to management.
Organizational Skills:
- The ability to organize and prioritize tasks, manage inventory, and maintain a clean and orderly warehouse is critical. Responsible for 7s audits achieving a 90% score.
Communication Skills:
- Effective communication with team members, other departments, and potential vendors or customers is necessary.
- Participate in L10 meetings.
